al-Jazari
Al-Jazari lived in Southern Turkey and it is unclear when he was born. Al-Shaykh Ra’is al-A’mal Badi’ al-Zaman Abu al-‘Izz ibn Isma’il ibn al-Razzaz al-Jazari was his full name. He was a very smart person that took his life into Mechanical Engineering. Jazari started his service when the ruler of his area was Nur al-Din Muhammad ibn Arslan in 1174 AD. He spent about 25 whole years with his family, especially his father and brother. He wrote about himself in a journal and the things that he did. Al-Jazari was an artist and puts his art skills to the test with his smarts in mechanical engineering and built a water clock with a chain reaction to tell time. During the early 12th century (1206) al-Jazari had past away. All of his great achievements are still appreciated today, and he helped tell time and we use time today.
The biggest accomplishment that al-Jazari had was the Water Elephant Clock. The clock was a device that told time with a bucket of water and a chain reaction to make a noise to tell what time it was. The clock went off every half hour and the noise would let everyone know that it has been a half an hour. Also the water clock sat on top of an elephant, so that is why they call it the Water Elephant Clock.
Page created by Adam W. - Wisconsin. I picked al-Jazari, because he is not known as much like Albert Einstein. Something cool or interesting about me is cheese is great, because WISCONSIN IS THE DAIRY STATE.
