Galileo
Galileo was a famous Italian Scientist and he was also famous for being a physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher. Galileo had made many important discoveries he made with his telescopes they were described in a short book called the Starry Messenger. It was published in Venice in May in the year of 1610. Galileo claimed to have seen mountains on the moon but he had proved that the milky way was made up of tiny stars. In February 1632 Galileo published dialogue Concerning the Two Chief Systems of the World. It is arguing the Copernican system Galileo had made his theory about why his theory is wrong. When Galileo was on trial for arguing the Copernican system and at the trial he was found guilty. He had lifelong imprisonment but he had house arrest instead of being in prison for life. Galileo had returned home near Florence but he had spent the rest of his life being watched over by officers. Eventually after all of his work he had smuggled out of Italy and taken to Leyden in Holland. It was his best math work and center of gravity was mostly left unpublished. But in 1640 he had designed the first pendulum clock. But soon after in 1642 he had died but with his clock design his son Vincenzo who tried to make the clock with Galileo's plan but he had failed. Pope John Paul II he had said that Galileo's case was closed. But one thing that he did not admit that the church was wrong to convict Galileo on a charge of Heresy because of his belief that the earth rotates on the sun.
Well Galileo had made many accomplishments and we still use some of them today. Well one of the first important accomplishment is the thermometer it was made in 1606. The second accomplishment is he also made the first military compass in 1609. The third accomplishment was the first working telescope. That are three of his accomplishments but he has many more.
