Isaac Newton
Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643 in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. Isaac was a philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and a physicist. He attended Cambridge University in 1661 and was elected a Fellow of Trinity College in 1667. Newton received a bachelors and masters degree. He was influenced by writings of Galileo, Johannes Kepler and Nicholas Copernicus. Isaac eventually became a Lucasian professor of Mathematics in 1669. During 1727, the wonderful scientist Sir Isaac Newton passed away due to old age. He was later buried in Westminster Abbey.
Newton's Discoveries
Isaac Newton is known for inventing/discovering The 3 Laws of Motion, the reflecting telescope, concepts based on gravitational force and a branch in mathematics known as calculus.

The Three Laws of Motion
First Law: Law of Inertia
An object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion at constant velocity, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. |
Second Law: F=ma
Force equals mass times acceleration. Objects with more mass exert more force. |
Third Law: Action-Reaction
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. |
Newtonian Telescope
The Newtonian Telescope was the first efficient telescope which was finalized in 1668. Although it wasn't his idea of a reflecting telescope, Newton was the one who had successfully built one! Like Galileo Galilei had deliberated after the creation of the refracting telescope, using a mirror for one of the objectives. Newton chose a speculum metal of copper and tin for the material for the objective mirror.

Sir Isaac Newton & the AppleYou've probably heard of the story of Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree. Somehow an apple fell and hit him on the head.
Isaac newton figured out that somehow during the time of the Great Plague. Due to the dreadful disease, Cambridge University was shut down. During the time spent home, Newton didn't waste his time! He figured out why this apple had fallen and why every object falls. Because Isaac was a man full with questions; destined to find out. And he did exactly that. |
