Louis Pasteur, was born on December 27, 1822 in Dole, France, he grew up in a town called Arbois with his father. He was an average student who was skilled at drawing and painting. Pasteur got his Bachelors of art in 1840 and a bachelor of science degree in 1842 and a doctorate in 1847. Then started researching and teaching at Dijon Lycee for 7 years. In 1848, he became a professor of Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg. There at the University he met Marie Laurent, the daughter of the Univeristy's rector. They got married in May 29, 1849 they had 5 children, but only 2 lived through childhood. In 1868 Pasteur was paralyzed because of a brain stroke, but still did his research. By his 70th birthday Pasteurs could no longer continue his work. He passed away on September 28, 1895.
Achievements
Louis Pasteur, was a very important scientist, his research is the reason a lot of people live today. One being that he found out that germs were actually a lot more harmful than they thought. For example, for surgery, they often wouldn't even wash their hands so if you got a surgery it often led to death Then in 1865 Pasteur help the silk industry by proving that microbes were attacking the healthy silkworms which then started making a disease so he got a way to get rid of the microbes so the disease went away. Another one would be his first vaccine in 1879 where he found a cure to a disease called chicken cholera. After he had found that out he used his germ experiment and found cures to anthrax, cholera, TB and smallpox.
