Philo Farnsworth
Life Story
Philo Farnsworth was born on August 19th, 1906. When he was growing up at first he lived in a log cabin by Beaver, Utah. Farnsworth lived there for a few years until he got a little older and then he and his family moved to a small farm in Idaho. A big reason Farnsworth was inspired to make the tv was because he was fasinated by the electricity he had when he moved into his new house on the farm. As he was continuing to grow up he became more and more fasinated with electricity and it eventually got to the point where he was able to fix the families generator when it would go out and he modified his moms washing machine so it ran on electricity instead of being hand powered also whats even more fasinating about this is that he was able to fix all of this stuff as just a teenager. Farnsworth was near the end of his high school career and one day he decided to share his idea with his chemistry teacher about the invention that would eventually be known as the tv. His teacher incouraged him to go on with his idea.
Farnsworth after high school continued to work on his designs wile he was attending BYU for college. He took classes for a couple years and then one day he decided to enlist in the Navy. He got to the Navy and actually ended up geting the second highest test score ever. He however ended up droppping out when he learned the government would actually get his desgns for his TV and they would be credited for the design. He then moved out to California to get his designs approved. After getting his designs approved he ended up making the first working tv. Instantly tons of people were interested in purchasing one. At one point he was offered $100,000 for his designs but he turned it down.
Several years later Farnsworth began getting things brodcasted onto his TV. His first major thing he brodcasted was the 1936 Olympics from Berlin. From then on the industry boomed and everything started being shown on TV. Farnsworth then moved back to Utah and continued to modify his design. Years later people continued to modify the TV until finally we got the product that we all have in our houses today.
