Steve Wozniak
In the end, I hope there's a little note somewhere that says I designed a good computer.
Steve Wozniak was born on August 11, 1950 in San Jose, California. He went to school at De Anza College and the University of California, Berkely. While Wozniak was at college, a friend told him to meet Steve Jobs. "We met in 1971 during my college years, while he was in high school. A friend said, 'you should meet Steve Jobs, because he likes electronics and he also plays pranks.' So he introduced us."
Woz and Jobs became good friends. Jobs worked at HP, and Wozniak worked on building a mainframe computer. In 1976, Steve Wozniak built the Apple I with his bare hands. Steve Jobs thought it would be a good idea to sell it, but Wozniak was skeptical first. Both of the Steves had to sell a lot of their belongings and put their other careers on the line to get the computer up and running. The Apple I was a hit, and their careers were just getting started.
Steve and Steve formed Apple Computer in 1976. Since Apple I was a hit, they designed Apple II and put it on the market. Wozniak really enjoyed the engineering side of the Apple business- not the business side. Because the company was growing so much, they had to hire a lot of engineers to help produce more products and designs. Wozniak felt as though he wasn't really needed in the business anymore. He was in an airplane crash in February of 1981, and thought that it would be a good time to leave the company. Even without "The Wonderful Wizard of Woz", Apple continued to be a success.

Accomplishments
- “It's just not right that so many things don't work when they should. I don't think that will change for a long time.”
The Apple I was designed and built by Steve Wozniak. It was the first computer that Apple had invented. Their first computer (built only by Wozniak), was inspired by the Homebrew Computer Club- Wozniak's idols. The Apple I cost $1000 in materials, and $200 to make more. Once it was finished, Jobs got the idea to sell it. Wozniak, at first hesitant, put it on sale at $666.66 (He liked to repeat numbers). Turns out, it was a hit. 200 were made, and all but 25 were sold. This 60+ chip circuit board just needed a keyboard and a television set to work.
Another one of Steve Wozniak's great accomplishments was the publication of his autobiography, iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon: How I Invented the Personal Computer, Co-Founded Apple, and Had Fun Doing It. He wrote about his adventures with Apple Computers and about his life in general- starting with his parents. Wozniak said that part of the reason he became an author is because he wanted to clear up rumors and misconceptions about himself and his work. In part of his book, he says that he entered a lot of science fairs- and won all of them. This just goes to show that Steve Wozniak was always a smart kid, and even a smart adult.
Along with inventing the Apple I, Steve Wozniak, Ronald Wayne and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer on January 3rd, 1977. Apple was born with the goal of making a profit selling and developing computers and devices. Apple's name was changed from Apple Computer, Inc. to Apple Inc. on Jauary 9th, 2007. The reason behind switching names was to switch the focus to consumer electronics, and not just computers. Apple is a big hit in phones in computers, so it's no wonder why they're the 3rd largest mobile phone maker and the world's second largest information technology company. Apple's headquarters are in Cupertino, CA, in a sleek infinity circle shape. They are planning on making another one in the near future.
