What he was known for
John Harrison was known not for just making clocks, he invented the Marine Chronometer. He thought it would be cool to make a portable clock, it was big put almost weightless so it wasn't so heavy. The clock was about the size of an average person's head. and the box was the same size just squared on the corners. the box is about 3.5 inches tall. ______________________________________ When Making a clock, you have to make sure that all of the right parts are connected so the clock doesn't go too fast or too slow.
Here is a cool website that has a way to make your own clock! -http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Clocks |
In the year of 1675, John invented the Marine Chronometer. A Marine Chronometer is a clock that is right on the spot accurate and it is so accurate that it's used for a portable time standard. When growing up John built long case clocks as well. He was 20 years old when he had built his very first long case. Although he was NOT the inventor, he was quite close to William Clement, the REAL inventor of the long case, so he helped William build them.

Page created by Cynthia B. I picked John Harrison because if he wasn't born, we would have messed up clocks and all clocks wouldn't be the right time. Although he did not invent the clock he did make alterations to make them BETTER than they were so they would work properly. I LOVE my kitty Yukon and I love texting! ;)
