Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci... Who is he?
|
Leonardo Da Vinci... He was the Heinz 57 of Science. He was a polymath. Leonardo Da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and a writer. He was born April 15, 1452. He died on May 2, 1519. Leonardo Da Vinci basically concepted flying machines. He was the first person to actually draw a flying machine. Leonardo Da Vinci was a true scientist

Major Accomplishment #1
Leonardo Da Vinci was great, and he also had great accomplishments. I'll list 3 of them. The first one is the Vitruvian Man.
Vitruvian Man
The Vitruvian man was a work of art mixed with Science. The drawing takes the ideals of the human body and puts it together with Geometry. The picture was made during the Renaissance, and was made for Leonardo's keen interest in Proportion. On the real painting, there are words that are translated to "Vitruvio, architect, puts in his work on architecture that the measurements of man are in nature distributed in this manner, that is:

Major Accomplishment #2
The second Major Accomplishment by Leonardo Da Vinci would be the fact that Leonardo Da Vinci totally STOOD UP Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, and Darwin.
Thank You Leonardo Da Vinci!
If it wasn't for Leonardo Da Vinci, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, and Darwin wouldn't have thought of the many Scientific Breakthroughs they made.
40 Years BEFORE Copernicus, Leonardo wrote in large letters for emphasis, "IL SOLE NO SI MUOVE," which translates to, "The sun does not move." Copernicus discovered Heliocentrism, or the theory that states that the sun is at the middle of the Universe/Solar System, and that Earth goes around it.
60 Years BEFORE Galileo, Leonardo said, "HEY! You guys should look through a magnifying glass and look at the moon and other planets." Now, that might not be EXACTLY what he said, but it's pretty much the same thing. And guess what Galileo did. He was the first to use a Magnifying glass to look at the stars and the heavenly bodies above.
200 Years BEFORE Newton, Leonardo wrote, (Prepare for a lot of quotations) "Every weight tends to fall towards the center by the shortest possible way." And elsewhere he added that because "every heavy substance presses downward, and cannot be upheld perpetually, the whole earth must become spherical."
400 Years BEFORE Darwin, Leonardo put the man with the same category as apes and monkeys and wrote, "Man does not vary from the animals except in what is accidental." And thus, (400 years later) Darwinism was born.

Major Accomplishment #3
The 3rd and final Major Accomplishment of the outstanding Leonardo Da Vinci was Geologic Time
Geologic Time
Plate tectonics? No problem for Leonardo Da Vinci. While a lot of Leonardo's present-day theories told you about the inland, mountain-top snail fossils as leftovers from the Great Flood, Da Vinci thought otherwise. He guessed that the mountains must once have been a coastline before many years of slowly moving up.

My name is Vinnie J. and I am from Wisconsin. I did Leonardo Da Vinci because he did a lot for Science, and his last name is ALMOST close to
